ATP No. 1 Club

A striking visual journey through modern men’s tennis, celebrating the twenty-nine players in the elite ATP No. 1 Club

In 2025, the ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) launched the ATP No. 1 Club: a celebration of the rarefied group of players who have been ranked best in the world by ATP’s computerized rankings. This boldly illustrated volume treats readers to a dynamic visual celebration of these athletic icons, allowing fans of the sport to delve into the careers and lives of the modern era’s best male players.

Through more than 300 photographs, the book chronicles the rises, rivalries, and individual contributions each of these twenty-nine men have made to professional tennis, bringing to life the enduring images that have been imprinted in our memories and reflecting the legends’ grace, passion, and skill.

Organized chronologically – from Ilie Nastase to Jannik Sinner – the book presents richly written profiles of each World No. 1, paired with a spectacular collection of archival photographs that capture the emotion, craft, and evolution of champions across five decades. The result is a dynamic blend of history and imagery that reveals how each player shaped the modern game.

Illustrating on-court battles, intimate off-court portraits, and behind-the-scenes moments, the book creates a rich photographic timeline of men’s tennis at its highest level. Readers will discover iconic imagery of Bjorn Borg with an eight-year-old Andre Agassi, rivals Agassi and Pete Sampras in the heat of battle, and Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic at the peak of their powers.

Taken together, these in-depth profiles form a complete trajectory of men’s tennis since the beginning of the ATP Rankings, showing how each player has pushed the game forward.

The book’s design is as striking as the athletes it celebrates, with a bold blue case featuring a tennis ball-sized die cut. Featuring a preface by Andrea Gaudenzi, a foreword by tennis legend Rod Laver, and text by Mark Hodgkinson, an award-winning tennis writer and player biographer, ATP No. 1 Club is an essential addition to any tennis fan’s library.
