Excerpt from Granby, Vol. 3 of 3: A Novel<br><br>He could not suffer Lord Malton to depart in the belief of his ignorance of the real relation in which they now stood towards each other; and he knew not whether he ought even to allow a meeting to take place, without first informing him of the present posture of affairs. He determined that he ought not, and accordingly addressed to him the following letter: -<br><br>"My Dear Lord,<br><br>"At the time when I sent you the melancholy intelligence of my uncles death, I was not in possession of any facts relating either to you or to myself, my knowledge of which it was necessary to intimate. Had I then known what I now know, I should have thought it my duty, even in that hour of grief, to have informed you of it. Since that time I have made a discovery of great moment.
