The authors have endeavoured to meet this call as far as is possible in a book of this character.<br><br>The public is naturally more interested in the occurrence of a remarkable cure than in the attempt of science to explain the phenomenon. Some space has for this reason been devoted to records of undoubted recoveries at shrines and elsewhere.
