This book deals mainly with Poland's policy towards Russia, Ukraine and Belarus in the years 1989–2010. The author presented political facts and events which had and still have considerable influence on Poland's policy towards eastern neighbours. Poland's political situation, the progressing evolution of the goals of Polish foreign policy, government coalitions and their programmes of cooperation with eastern partners, international circumstances and other numerous factors which have a significant influence on Polish eastern policy were submitted to thorough analysis from the angle of their positive and negative meaning in the political relations with Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. It was the author's goal to present to the readers also the current state of bilateral relations of Poland with Russia, Ukraine and Belarus, respectively and to answer the question whether during the recent twenty years Polish authorities have done everything they could to live in a friendly international environment with eastern countries. It is also the aim of this work to take into account the question of how Polish eastern policy is perceived by Russia, Ukraine and Belarus and also its influence on the bilateral political relations in the period discussed in the book.
