Excerpt from Sonnets, and Other Poems<br><br>Only four of the Sonnets in the present volume have been previously published, and two of them have since been slightly altered.<br><br>The sonnets signed 'T. D. I.' are by Thomas Dunbar Ingram (son of the author of the other pieces in the volume), who, after a distinguished career in Trinity College, Dublin, died in South Africa, whither he had gone in search of health, at the age of twenty-five.<br><br>The second series of sonnets will scarcely be fully understood without some knowledge of the writings of Auguste Comte, who is in several places spoken of as 'the Master.'
